How to prepare for a tattoo

Is there anything I can do to prepare my skin?

During the weeks leading up to your tattoo it is worth giving your skin a bit of extra pampering! Basically if your skin is in good condition then it is much more receptive to being tattooed, so moisturising is a good place to start.

Can I bring a friend?

You can bring a friend with you but please don’t bring an entourage! We don’t have the space and it is also distracting for the artist.

Can I drink alcohol beforehand?

On the day of your tattoo don’t be tempted to have a drink beforehand. Alcohol thins your blood which causes excessive bleeding whilst being tattooed (it is also a good idea not to drink excessively the night before).

Can I use a numbing cream?

If you are considering using a numbing cream then it is best to speak to your studio beforehand as some artists prefer you not to use them or will recommend a particular type.

What can I do to help myself?

It is a good idea to bring a sugary drink or sweets with you especially if you are having a particularly long session, to keep your blood sugar levels up.

What happens when I arrive for my appointment?

When you arrive for your appointment you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire and consent form, then you are ready to be tattooed!
